2013 OC Fest of Ales Brew Competition
http://ocfestofales.bksites.net/brewmybrew-challenge
This is the homebrew contest associated with the OC Fest of Ales brewfest. Last year was a fun event and ran well considering it's first year!
I recommend the VIP pass for the excellent food pairings and private VIP area! Unlimited tastings also takes the worry out of wasting one of your 'tastings' on something you may not like.
Last year, they tasted and handed out awards on the day of the fest, which was kinda cool.
Entries must be turned in by Sep 10th.

Oh, I almost forgot. This year's Best of Show winner will work with Noble Ale Works to brew their beer for the AHA Pro-Am competition!

Are we sure? Apparently Noble was one of the breweries that missed out on GABF registration this year (which was a major-league charlie foxtrot from all reports)...lexuschris wrote:Oh, I almost forgot. I'm thinking that must be for the following year as the timing wouldn't be optimal for the current, had they been able to secure a spot.

Must be for next year's GABF as any entries would have to be on tap at the entering brewery by the first of September.

Registration is open and will remain so until Sept 10.

Req't: 3 bottles, $5 per entry
Drop-off: Aug 28-Sept 11
Drop-off Locations: O'Shea Brewing Co, Addison Homebrew Provisions
Why should I enter?
They're going to have a homebrewer event for entrants, which although I haven't been to the previous year's event, may supplant the loss of the OC Fair event. Given that this is an OC competition, this is one that I think we should attempt to enter and dominate. Let's get it going, people!

List...
Obviously we've got the Sam/Brian/Paul group with a first in Cat10, and Chris with his Metheglin.
Hal Ward placed 2nd (and just edged me out in 3rd) in the Euro Amber Lager category with O'fest for both of us.

The scottish strong and belgian strong were the two choices left for BOS and Evan picked the wee heavy as the winner.
