Miller's B3 Grain Mill

Has anyone seen this mill? Priced at $139, but not sure about engineering of unit

I've not seen that before, but I liked the looks of it.

The list of improvements in the B3 model sure makes it sound like the understand brewers needs, and have put a lot of thought into the mill's design. Sounds good to me!

One thing I noticed in lack of specs...ie: drive shaft diameter
Hand or drill cranking is ok, but motor drive is best

I did not get this one...choose the Monster 3 roller mill instead
Contacted BYO magazine and they are doing an article on motorizing my mill

Cool. I kept looking into it and the Millar seems slightly shady on its claims.

I think I'm going to end up with (in this order as of now):

1) A Crankandstein 2 roller mill
2) A Barley Crusher
3) The cheapest Monster Mill I can find (those are expensive!)

After much research, I decided on the 3 roller Monster with S/S rollers and 1/2" shaft for motor
Yes, they are pricey but you get what you pay for... as wife says, go first class or stay home

If you are like me, brewing is once a month or so...that is why I choose the s/s rollers to avoid rust issues

If you choose another brand, suggest you check trueness of rollers meaning do they run straight or off center of the shaft causing irregular crush

I'll be interested in the motorization part of it. Just received and assembled my 3 roller Monster with S/S 1.5" rollers and 1/2" shaft. Too bad it didn't have the new-fangled adjuster like they are showing in the magazine ads...

I ended up going with a Monster Mill 2-2.0 (the new 6"x2" rollers with fancy knobs). http://www.monsterbrewinghardware.com/mm-220.html

I almost went crazy and bought the 3 roller, but I really couldn't justify the additional cost and don't really see too much of a need. I batch sparge and tend to use rice husks in every batch, so I'm not worried about some of the husks tearing up, just about good efficiency and a long-lasting product.

BTW, you can order the new knobs and/or frames from the site.

That'll be down the line. I also picked up a low speed/high torque drill from Harbor Freight for now.

Did you get the hole hawg clone? I picked up an old Milwaukee hole hawg on Craigslist and mounted that for my motor. The low speed on it is perfect, plus it has threaded mounting bosses already because of the handle attachments.
