Homebrew Sankey kegs

Anyone have experience with these? I need to keg a beer for a wedding and the only connections available at the location are Sankey.

Open to other ideas.

Why not just put your beer in a regular sanke pony or 1/2 barrel? I've got one you can borrow.

That's a great question. I have never used a Sankey and not sure what is involved in cleaning, filling and carbing. The wedding is not until the Spring of next year, so I got plenty of time to figure it out, just trying to get ahead of the curve.

I'm guessing it's a easy procedure to fill a Sankey.

It's pretty easy to open a sanke.
1. relieve pressure
2. remove retainer ring
3. turn and remove spear

Search Youtube for "sanke keg disassembly" and you'll see how easy it is.

Open it to clean it and then fill it the same way prior to putting the spear back in.

How many beers and how many gallons you doing?

Just 5 gallons in the keg. I'm bottling 2 other batches for the wedding as well.

I've not had to consider serving homebrew from a 'sanke' kegerator before, so took a gander around Google on the topic.

Lots of ways to add/convert a sanke tape to a ball-lock homebrew system. Not quite so easy to find a conversion to allow a sanke kegerator tap a corney... but this link looks promising.

I have this. I don't think it will work here as it requires cutting the CO2 and liquid lines and then putting new fittings on.

That said, I don't use this kit any more so if anyone needs it, let me know.

Step 1 - become friends with someone at a brewery.
Step 2 - convince them to loan you a washed keg.
Step 3 - borrow a Sanke tap (from me if you want) and fill your keg.
Step 4 - drink beer.
Step 5 - return dirty keg to brewery with a fancy bottle of beer.
