2008 Samuel Adams® American Homebrew Contest

Post by spkrtoy »

Dear Homebrewer,
That’s right. We’re bringing it back.
Announcing the 2008 Samuel Adams® American Homebrew Contest®! Here’s your chance to have your homebrew brewed, packaged and nationally distributed in the 2009 Samuel Adams LongShot® package!

It’s simple. Well, not really. You will have to brew a winning entry, send it in to face a panel of certified beer judges and beat out thousands of other entries. But no one ever said taking a shot at glory was easy! Get yourself to www.samueladams.com to learn all the details including how much time you have to brew and ship it to us (less than you think!).

You can even purchase homebrew supplies; watch the instructional “The Art of Homebrewing” video hosted by our own Jim Koch or become a member of the American Homebrewers Association.
Here are some quick facts:
Submission Window: April 15 – May 1st, 2008
Prizes:Four finalists will be awarded a trip to attend the 2008 Great American Beer Festival® in Denver, CO where Samuel Adams will announce the winning recipe to be included in the 2009 LongShot six-pack.

Good luck!
Please note that this competition is registered with the BJCP as an AHA/BJCP Sanctioned Competition Program (SCP) event.
Cheers,
Lyn

Anyone else planning on entering this? As many of you know, I was a finalist last year, and made it to Denver. And as many of you also know, there are many brewers in this club who are far more talented than I am.

So if you want a free trip to the GABF in Denver, where you'll be treated like a rock star, it might be worth it. The drop-off point for entries is B3 in Riverside, so it's not even difficult to get things turned in.

I'm submitting my Rye Pale Ale, which is a true long shot, as it's my second attempt brewing it which was NOT as good as the first. I'm also submitting a milk stout, which I think is a pretty tasty beer.

So anyone else have something to send?

Yeah, I'll enter again this year. I was first runner-up on the West Coast last year. I'll try again this year with the Scotch Ale.

I won't have anything ready for this year. But if you guys want your entries delivered to B3 just let me know... I work a few blocks from the store.

I'm also heading up from South OC on Saturday morning to drop mine off... If anyone wants to get their entries to me before then, I'll take them up for you.

Damn! I missed this one. I have the beer bottled up, just got too busy to bring it or ship it. Oh well.

That's tough... My beers this year were not as good as the beer I submitted last year, so I don't think you even had to worry about edging you out :D

Bad news: I don't get another free trip to Denver.

Good news: My milk stout took 1st place in the stout category in the San Francisco Region.

Brad, we shoud bow down to you!
Great job, 2 +years in a row.
Hopefully you can come to the OC fair and see what "ipa" beat yours. It was tough, but talk to the winner (if it's not you) and serve some of yours side by side and we'll see.

Damn, you're the bomb! and we're not worthy!
Cheers,
Lyn
