Okay, so I am brewing twice this weekend. Two identical beers with the exception of the yeast. The IPA will be fermented with California Ale Yeast. The IPL will be fermented with Mexican Lager Yeast. The malt bill is going to be simple - just 92% Two-row and 8% Vienna - so the hops can shine through. That is where I want some feedback. Here is a list of the appropriate hops and their AA% that I have in stock. I want to know what you would use in a recipe that will highlight the hops. Which hops would you use and where during the boil would you add them? I'm not going to dry hop, but I will add a ton of hops after flame out.

Amarillo 8.9
Chinook 12.8
Cascade 6.3
Citra 14.4
Columbus 12.7

I'd probably go with the classic C hops. Chinook, Centennial, Cascade, and Columbus.
What is your target OG? Assuming 1.065 for a standard IPA I'd bitter with Columbus, 60 minutes for 35-ish IBU. Then add a blend of all four at flameout. Somewhere between 1lb and 1.25lb / 10 Gallons and whirlpool for 30 minutes. You'll get a good amount of bitterness from this and a ton of flavor and aroma.

My 0.2 . I'd go BIG with something in the 1.075ish range with ~ 90 IBU's

Let me know once you settle on a recipe. My next beer will also be an IPL, using W-34/70. While we have different brewing systems and processes, maybe I'll make the same recipe to compare...

I ran across this post this morning and thought of this post. Maybe ditch the Columbus, bitter with Chinook and go 2:1 Cascade:Centennial at flameout.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Good stuff. I added some C60 to the recipe for some body to stand up to the hops. Here is the recipe I came up with. I'm not sure about Beersmith's calculations for the whirlpool hop IBUs, but it should be an interesting experiment regardless. I'm using RO water and working on the salt additions right now.
