William Fevre Fourchaume Vaulorent 2004 Chablis - Review

Post by Oskaar »

WILLIAM FEVRE FOURCHAUME VAULORENT 2004 CHABLIS - $44.99

Oskaarz note:
This is an exceptional 2004 Chablis (Grand Cru-adjacent Premier Cru) with amazing aromatics and one of the longest finishes I've ever experienced in a Chablis, or any other wine for that matter.

Appearance:
Pale yellow-green-gold in color. Clear, brilliant and gemlike in appearance and seems to actually amplify the light passing through it. Very leggy and presents with excellent volume in the glass.

Aroma and Flavor:
Wow, where to begin. Let me just say that I've had many many Chablis over the years. This is one of the best I've ever tasted. It presents with intense freshly hewn stone, mineral, mint (spearmint to be more precise) and spicy ginger. Apples, pears, white flowers, vanilla and very ripe acid (think full ripe lemon) round out the wonderful aroma of this Chablis. There is plenty of bracing acidity, mineral, peach, pear, apple and lemony citrus on the fore and the mid is a wonderful mix of ripe crisp fruit, apple skin, peach pit, and subtle mint, honey and spicy notes up top. The finish is long lingering and packed with tart, ripe acid, spice, honey, kumquat and hints of apricot, smoke and sandlewood.

Overall Impression:
Wow . . . wow . . . wow. This is a superbly precise, fresh, focused wine with a long lingering finish that rivals anything I've ever tasted. For minutes after I sipped the last of this bottle the wine persisted on the back of my tongue, throat, between my gums and lips, and the acid persisted on my lips and under the tongue. It just amazing and well worth the price of admission. I'll be picking up a case of this superb wine.

Cheers,

Oskaar

Thanks for the review Pete!

I sent a copy over to one of the wine snobs here and she's impressed by your review and want's to try it based on it.

PS, I've got some really cool beers to rate at the next sanity check that I got from Hi Times yesterday: Victory Saison, Port & Prof Braueri's Signature being the only one's I can remember off the top of my head.
Cheers,
Lyn

Who Hoooo!

Also remembered I got 2 of Lost Abbey's beers, one's brewed with raisins and the other's the imperial stout.

No judging for me, too far and nobody to take care of Marian.
