Anyone have the info for the upcoming LA County Fair homebrew comp? Entries are due pretty soon, I think?

Pete,

That's for the commercial beer competition, not the homebrew.

The only info. I can find is on the Maltose Falcons site, and it isn't much. Nothing is even listed on the fair website.

Found it...

Grouped under the "Culinary" category on their web site.

Coming up quickly - entries due at the fairgrounds Friday July 18, or at a few drop-off sites Saturday July 19.

Also note... They use funky category styles and groupings. Make sure you use their class and subclass designations, not the standard BJCP style numbering system.

For example (the two that affect me), they split English/American IPA off into its own style and add the Imperial IPA in with the wheat wine and barleywine. They also split Dry Stout and Sweet Stout out from the other stouts...

I'm aware.

Tyler <---- Commercial Brewer

We judged together at the last commercial competition. Figured he typo'd.

Cheers,

Anyone else planning on submitting to this? Looks like the fairgrounds drop off is in Pomona, and due @ the fairgrounds by Friday.

Alternatively, Steinfillers will accept entries (as well as a few places farther north in LA) by Saturday July 19th, but you'll have to send your paperwork to the fair (I think).

FYI I just tried the site and Google reports it as an attack site ... on their visit, a malware attempt was made (this was as of 7/15). So be careful if / when you visit that site!

Wow, I knew Pomona had some rough areas, but I didn't know Google reports it as an "attack site"!!!

Seriously, though, my link was directly to lacountyfair.com, so I assume that is okay. If you're going to submit, you'll need to get on top of it quickly. 2 days until submission deadline if you drop them off at the fairgrounds...

FYI, I checked with the organizer, and if anyone still wants to enter, you can drop off your forms and fees with your beer tomorrow at Steinfillers. They're open until 6 PM.
