So I just transferred my IPA into the fermenters and checked the gravity. It looks like my efficiency was horrible, probably because of the new drill I used to run my mill. Normally I'd just let it go and not worry about the lower gravity, only this was hopped pretty heavily and with the lower gravity the hop utilization will be even higher. BeerAlchemy shows that I'm at about 1.064 and 77 IBU. I was shooting for 1.074 and 71 IBU. I'm thinking about adding some sugar to boost the gravity, I figure 2 lbs should add about 1.008 to 10 G of wort and that would get me closer to my original numbers. It's an IPA, so I don't think finishing drier would be a problem. What do you guys think?
