Johnson Controls A419 Temp controller

Post by threefrenchs »

My Johnson Control A419 has begun to stop working intermittently. Anyone every sent one in for repair? Maybe it's not worth it, but if you have and recommend it, please let me know.

Thanks,
Robert

Are you getting any output voltage? If so, what is it?

Could just be a bad relay. If I remember correctly, those have relays soldered onto the board. You can unsolder and replace it. Not sure if that's a service that Johnson does or not.

Taking it a little further, if it was the relay, you could always use an external SSR (solid state relay) and solder the trigger leads to the driver circuit in the Johnson. If you're comfortable using a multi meter, you could open the unit and test if the relay is working and if the controller is supplying power to the relay.

I have not checked it. If I unplug it, let it sit for a few minutes and re-plug it works for one "on cycle" and then shuts down again.

On a side note, I installed a new A419 and everything works fine.

I will give that a shot.
