Stewarding a homebrew competition

Post by WillL »

Hey guys,

I'm going to be a steward at AFC this weekend in San Diego and was looking for some advice or "do's and don'ts" when it comes to stewarding. This is my first time stewarding and wanted to see if anyone had experience stewarding a homebrew competition and could give out some wisdom on how to be a good one. I'm looking forward to seeing how the competitions are run and hopefully will be able to try some good homebrews after the judging is over :happybeer:

I've never stewarded, but I do judge a few competitions each year. From my perspective, I want to be able to find my steward easily when we need them and get our beers fairly quickly after we ask for them to be pulled. It can be pretty annoying to sit around looking for your steward when you want to finish your flight. Stop by regularly (not too regularly!) to see if you can take away old bottles and offer to bring new ones. That's a good time to ask if any of the beers were particularly good or interesting.
