First brew on my awesome new Brewer's Hardware system
(Sorry for the repost for anyone following on Google+ or Twitter...)
I brewed my first beer on my new Brewer's Hardware system today. I also switched to using a water filtration system instead of campden tablets and this was my first time fly sparging.
I was really happy with how everything turned out given all the variables. I spilled a bit of my first runnings thanks to forgetting to close a valve, but I only missed my gravity by 2 points (1.064 vs 1.066) so I count that as a win.

Very cool.
I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada down at Trader Vic's

You know, when most people drop insane coin on brew sculptures, I can always believe in the back of my mind, "well, I make better beer than he does anyway." Tough to reconcile that with a BOS-winner...
Now I just feel inferior to you. And I don't like it!

Hey Brent, how bout some pictures of the system, all I see in the photos is wort in a pot. Not that wort is a bad thing of course, I would just like to see the whole brew stand.

Of course! This is from the water test I did last weekend before brewing.

Re: First brew on my awesome new Brewer's Hardware system
Not wanting to take any thunder away from Brent's cool new rig, however I also have a new Brewer's Hardware setup and spent the better part of today putting plumbers tape on threads, cutting silicon hose, attaching tri-clover barbs, and otherwise prepping to try a brew Sunday (later today). I was hoping to get to water test tonight, but at 11:30pm I decided to give my neighbors a respite form the backyard noise I was generating.
I did get all my natural gas fittings mounted and had a successful gas test (no bubbles) and flame test. I setup all my NG from the backyard fireplace with 3/4" quick connect & hose. However, it was my bad measurements as the rig is piped with 1/2". So I put a 90-deg elbow on the bottom for a better attachment angle, then put a downsize hose coupler on the hose itself. For the Chugger pump mounts, I ended up get some stainless steel plates and drilling 4 matching holes to the pumps mounting plate. Then some long threaded studs and nuts finished it out. Even in a vertical position, it provides enough clamping pressure to keep the pumps in place. and a closeup of the pump mount... After those photos, I did rotate the pump heads so that the outlet is straight up.
If all goes well, I can get a quick water test going in the morning, and then brew 10 gallons of my American Honey Wheat for the SCHF. I'll try to get a few more photos during the day!

Looking good Chris! Why did you decide to change the orientation of your pumps? I would guess that it's to make priming easier?

Yes. It was for better priming and to reduce cavetation. I wasn't sure which way was recommended, so i read a bunch of posts on HBT. The guys over at Chugger also recommend the out port pointing up.
So far, it seemsto to work well this way...
