That looks pretty sweet!
All of those hops ended up being only 4 lbs?

Typo.. .thanks for catching it! It was 8 lbs this year. 50% of that was Cascade. Those bines really produce!JonW wrote:That looks pretty sweet!

Wow!!
Great Pics, looks like a beautiful place. If you need extra workers next year give a holler.

Dan, have you had success growing them in pots rather than being in the ground? How much volume of soil do they need to grow. This looks like a fun project.dhempy wrote:I'm going to put them into a pot and move them to a different locale ... these were giant rhizomes too.

I haven't tried pots (yet) so I don't know. I have seen them grown very well in pots though in other places .... I would guess 1.5 to 2 cu.ft. is all you need (more would be better). I do have a couple of rhizomes that haven't taken off in the ground yet ... my pan is to move them to pots and see what happens.
Will keep you posted.

I’ve read posts on people growing their own hops but couldn’t find out where they got their starter seeds from. Can anyone help with this? I have the room in my backyard to grow and the wife’s permission. Ha, ha!

Look for "rhysomes" which are available now but not for long

Any dogs? FYI hops can be very highly poisonous to dogs... Just fair warning.tikitatt wrote:I’ve read posts on people growing their own hops but couldn’t find out where they got their starter seeds from. Can anyone help with this?
