2015 AHA Learn to Homebrew Day, Nov. 7 w/ RIIP Beer Company

Post by JonW »

Time for the annual AHA Learn to Homebrew Day! This year we will be partnering with Riip Brewing in Huntington Beach to support this event.

http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/a ... te_id=2781

We will be doing demonstrations at the new Riip Beer Company tasting room and homebrew supply shop.

With this location, we should see a good turnout of the public to see and learn brewing techniques. I would like to see us be able to demonstrate extract, BIAB and all grain brewing.

Due to the location, there will not be natural gas available (so I will not be brewing), but propane setups will work fine.

Please reply to this thread if you can attend and/or are able to bring your equipment and brew. Even if you can't brew, attendance is welcome so that you can talk with the spectators about the brewing techniques.

Please share and publish this event!

I will update this list below with those doing demo's:
Curtis - BIAB
WillL - Extract
Tim S- All Grain

We have 3 demo's lined up already! We have plenty of space for more brewers.

Please post up if you can attend or demo.

Probably a stupid question, but are we allowed to bring homebrew?
I believe we couldn't at Beach City because they didn't have their license yet. Is it any different at Riip?

Maybe the guys at Riip can hand it out from behind the counter based on the style of demo.

That's a good question. I'll check with them and see what they say.

Bumping this up!

It would be nice to have more of the club come out and support this. It's a great opportunity to do some education on home brewing and to check out the new tasting room & home brew shop at Riip Beer Co.

A couple people at work are interested in getting started brewing.
They plan on coming out to see how it's done!

Bumping this up again. I've had several RSVP for the event and so have the guys at Riip.

Does anyone have a 10x10 popup tent they could bring. I'll bring one, but I think if we had 3 strung together it would be good.

I doubt I will make this event. I really need to brew twice this weekend since I have a ton of work travel coming up and this may be the only chance I have to get 'er done. Sounds like you guys will have a great time.

I need natural gas and RO water (which takes forever), otherwise I would.

Yeah, no luck for me to make it this weekend either. I was traveling for work this week, and next week will be going to Malaysia and Thailand, so telling SWMBO that I want to go to a brew event on Saturday isn't going to fly...

That may take more than one lesson.
