Odd.

I was a bit spooked, not sure what was going on, but the site 404'd for me for almost an hour. I guess it was a pretty good server hiccup somewhere in the pipe.

Was from just one computer and could you access other sites? We've switched servers a while ago and all the wierd stuff's stopped for me since.
Brent, can you run a check on any "hiccups"?

No, there was definitely a problem. I got a SQL error, then nothing for a bit. Seems fine now.

Oskaar noticed an issue too, I didn't see anything myself. I'll see if I can find anything, but I'm not sure if this will show up in our logs or not.

I tried from work and from home and even tried from my cell, all 404'd. Might have been a problem at the hosting company, not really with the site in particular. But everything seems fine now.

And SQL error eh? Did you happen to capture it?

No, I tried a page reload first and the page cleared and 404'd. The error did not repeat.

There were a couple of issuses:

1. There was a mySQL error that pointed to the database being unable to supply the requested page

2. We lost the domain for a while as well which resulted in being unable to ping or tracert the site

3. When the domain pointers were re-established, the site was pointing to http://www.brewcommune.com/index.php rather than http://www.brewcommune.com/forum.

This looks like a combination of hosting and server-side mySQL issues so I doubt that our forum logs will show anything. But, I think a support email to the host about the loss of host/domain resolution is in order and will probably give us some helpful information.

Cheers,

Oskaar

There it went again. I was getting timeouts and "cannot find server" errors this time.

Brent is on the line with Host Gator. Looks like the server was reset on the host side for some reason. Brent will have more information after he speaks with the hosting folks.

I have a ticket open with our hosting provider. I'll update as soon as I know more.

As we had already heard, spikes in traffic on other sites on the server caused these issues. The sites that caused the problem have been moved and they say we shouldn't see the problem anymore.

The logo in the title bar is linked to http://www.brewcommune.com/index.php which returns error 404 with an add for HostGator.

Alright, I finally fixed the index.php thing. It's a pretty lame hack, but it does redirect you back to the forum now.
