I'm on the 25th floor here in downtown LA and we were shaking for quite a while. Plenty of people with varying degrees of panic on their faces.
We're on roller so we felt the initial movement very lightly then the momentum and intensity increased markedly over the course of about 30 seconds. Everything is bolted down pretty good here, and non of our servers came out of our racks so we're golden.
Pretty good shake in Santa Ana. I'm only on the 4th floor and we had a pretty good ride. Some of our coworkers were at Crystal Court and said that metal started falling from the ceiling and crushed some chairs. It looks like it's been downgraded to a 5.4 now according to USGS.
I was at lunch. No big deal here at least on the ground.
We have been moving server racks to a product called ISO-base that does seismic mitigation. I would like to have seen them in action. Basically the floor should move under them and the up and down motion should be gentler too.
Well I came home to see that John Lackey tried to commit suicide. He suffered a broken leg and wrist. Funny that he was the newest addition to the bobble-head family. That's LIFO for you accountant/inventory guys.

LIFO is the bane of my existence some days. We have an inventory tax in MI and use LIFO. When you source a lot of parts at dramatically different costs, it really f's you up.
