Two yeast experiment

Post by backhousebrew »

I brewed 10 gallons of all grain Blonde Ale on 9-5. OG = 1.052
Two fermenting buckets.
One with Nottingham dry yeast. Poured packet on top of wort. Slow start. FG = 1.014
One with Safale US-05. Poured packet on top of wort. Good activity next morning. FG = 1.016
Bottled 9-20
Sampled them last night. Both were good.
The Safale is lighter, smoother, and not as sweet as the Nottingham.
I was surprised that the Nottingham tasted sweeter since it's FG was lower thant the Safale.
Anyway, they both taste great and I'm glad I made 10 gallons.
I'll bring both to the next meeting for everyone to compare.
