Curious as to how much and when to add heather to a scottish beer I'm formulating. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Re: Heather
Did you ever get any answers? I read 1 oz per gallon. I think Brew your own might be a good source.
If you have already brewed, would like to know when and how much you used.

Re: Heather
Nothing yet. However, I did look up in the BYO reference spreadsheet, and they said 12 cups of flowers per 5 gallons, for 90 min boil.
Brewers Garden packages 2oz Dried Heather Tips, and recommends the 1 bag (or more) for a 5 gallon batch.
On HBT, I found this thread on Heather. Not really conclusive, but seems like 2oz in the long boil, and the maybe 2 oz more in the finish will be a good starting point..

Re: Heather
It was good.
Michael Jackson said it was revived in the early 1990's by the Williams brothers which you probably already know.
They also make a good beer called 'Alba Scots Pine Ale' which doesn't use hops, instead pine sprigs and spruce shoots. Like this one also. maybe you could try that next.
Keep us posted.
